Bicycling the USA-2
Yet another fantastic cycling adventure CD. This second edition covers an almost 4500 mile bicycle journey across the whole of the South-USA and down the Southern-West Coast
From the smoky honky-tonk bars of New Orleans, the route passes along through the humid swamplands of Louisiana until reaching the hot prairie regions of north Texas. Battling against strong westwinds our route now crosses over the hilly terrain of New Mexico entering the fascinating landscapes of the Arizona and Utah Canyonlands. After an extensive round-trip through the National Parks here i.e. Arches, Bryce, Zion and the spectacular Grand Canyon it's time to head through the haunting canyons of Monument Valley and cross over the mighty Hoover Dam into the glittering, desert city of Las Vegas. From here it starts becoming a little more difficult daily as we strenuously pass through the baking hot saltpans of Death Valley. Follow us as we climb up into the snow covered high regions of the Sierra Nevada and reach the eastern gate of the Yosemite NP at 9945 ft.
Now, it's back down to sea-level heading for San Francisco passing frozen lakes, tossing waterfalls and white topped mountain summits. Slandering past vineyards and hazelnut orchards in the Central Valley, we soon reach the coastline and head southbound along Hwy. 1 hugging the Pacific Ocean heading for the Mexican border at Tijuana just south of San Diego. The famous "Big Sur" offers us spectacular ocean views as we wind our way up and down the at times steep high cliffs before reaching the outskirts of Santa Barbara and LA. This unique Travel-CD gives you specific information on how to plan and undertake such an adventure. High quality video clips allow you to see the route in advance. Using this product your next or first big adventure has already begun!
The backroads throughout Louisiana are fun to cycle. Just after this photo was taken at the border east of Dallas, we were then attacked by a score of stinging Hornets, "Ouuuuuuuuuuch"!
Louisiana is fun to cycle through, however it can become rather hot, humid and quite sticky in summer.
Reaching the border into the very hot and dusty State of Texas. Most of the Highways here are huge and offer luxuriously wide shoulders, just great for cyclists.
What a lovely place to cycle along! Fantastic coastal scenery awaits you on this part of the route.
Cycling up into the high Sierra Nevada is terrific. You'll enjoy the spectacular mountain scenery and crisp cool air.
Enjoy the pounding surf, sea-lions, lighthouses, dolphins, whales and good weather when heading from San Francisco to Mexico on Hwy. 1
