The Rockies-Tour
As you can clearly see by the geographical position of this tour, that it is only possible to carry out this tour during the summer months. In the southern parts of Canada, you'll find most of the highways with some kind of side shoulder to cycle along in peace.

This splendid alpine tour takes us along the "Trans Canadian Highway" from Calgary to Bellingham just short of Vancouver city, passing through the spectacular scenic areas of the Banff, Joho and Glacier National parks.
Although, there are some rather strenuous and difficult sections to tackle when cycling this route, the adventure value is well worth the effort. You'll have nosey mountain goats peering down at you as you cross over the high passes as well as grazing herds of elk just off of the highway when passing through some of the traffic sparse Parkways. Tall pines, turquoise colored lakes and crisp, cool fresh air make this trip a memorable one indeed.

Following the steep and winding highway sections through the valleys of the Thompson and Frazer rivers observing the daily rafting expeditions tackling the fast and wild white water sections is not only highly interesting but also great fun.

Soon, we'll be cycling down from the high "Rockies" to the flatter regions of the northern West Coast, where our trip now ends on reaching the busy metropolis of Vancouver.

This map shows us the 738 mile or 1180 Km tour through southwest Canada.
Canada has plenty to offer cycle- tourers, be it scenery, wide open countryside or busy towns and tourist filled national parks.
Most of the national parks are quite busy and at times over filled in high summer, so make sure you arrive at your planned daily destination in good time to be sure of a campsite for the evening. You'll find many, many lovely valleys and canyons to cycle through in southern BC.
Entering the Glacier National Park and enjoying every single moment of this wonderful alpine park.
The Thompson river valley offers spectacular scenery. The highway winds it's way above the railroad steeply along the valley's sides.
